In this month’s post, I’m going to be sharing 5 resources I use all the time as a video editor. And the best part is that these are all FREE to use. Let’s dive in!
MixKit
Probably one of the best free resources for video editors is MixKit. MixKit has several free stock footage, stock music, and stock motion graphics that you can use inside your Premiere Pro project.
The stock video and music is a little limited, but one of their strengths is their motion graphic templates. I always go here first before I buy something from another website because you never know. MixKit might have what you need!

Runway
One resource that has been in the news lately is Runway. Runway is known for it’s AI Magic Tools. These can really help speed up the workflow for video editors.
Runway just recently came out with Gen-2, a new Text to Video AI generator. This tool essentially creates video clips out of thin air by just using a simple text prompt. If you want to learn more about Gen-2, check out my recent blog post here.
If you’d like to see some of the other features inside Runway, check out one of my recent videos below. You can do all sorts of things such as remove the background from video clips, remove objects from your video, and even automatic motion tracking.
YouTube Audio Library
Another free resource that YouTube content creators can use is YouTube’s Audio Library. This library of stock music is completely free to use for videos on YouTube.
If you are not a YouTube creator, there are more free stock music websites out there. Some include Facebook’s Sound Collection as well as Purple Planet Music. If you want to see the interface for all of these, check out my video below where I cover them more in detail.
Unsplash
If you need high quality royalty free stock photos for your videos, you should try out Unsplash. Unsplash offers a wide variety of photos that are completely free to use in your video projects.
aescripts + aeplugins
Another resource is aescripts + aeplugins, A lot of the stuff on this website you have to pay for, but there are a few where you can set your own price to $0. So it really depends on the product your are looking at.
Check out one of my recent videos where I use a free script to generate a cool text animation effect inside After Effects.
So those are my top 5 free resources for video editing. Let me know your thoughts on these in the comments below. Thanks so much for reading!
